Re: Surrond sound possiable?

So, ignoring PulseAudio for now (I disabled it), I installed the Squeezelite version 1.8 Debian package using APT in Raspbian Stretch (a package for Squeezelite version 1.6.4 is available in Raspbian Jessie, but I haven't tried it). sudo apt install squeezelite pi@raspberrypi:~ $ apt-cache policy sq...

Re: Surrond sound possiable?

Sounds cool. I inherited one of those Marantz quadraphonic sound amplifiers from my dad. I think my sister has it now using it more as a bookshelf decoration than anything else. I always liked it. ELP's Brain Salad Surgery sounded great on it. Again, Can you show us exactly how you configured squeez...

Re: Surrond sound possiable?

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not an expert on ALSA, PulseAudio or the Octo. I'm just another Octo user like you, so I could be wrong about some of the information that follows. Is the Octo software specific? I don't think so, but the configuration of specific software is often times releva...

Re: Surrond sound possiable?

Does anyone have instructions to getting surround sound out of the 8 outputs, as in a 7.1 setup to be used in a home theater? That was my reason of interest in this card in the first place, so it seems that the creator of this card should provide some instruction/setup since that was part of the hy...

Re: Octo card not recognized on every boot

This could probably use more testing, but I've had 10 successful (with sound) reboots in a row now on my Pi3B with Raspbian Stretch and using the following modprobe.d config file. pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/audioinjector-octo.conf softdep snd_soc_audioinjector_octo_soundcard pre: snd_soc...

Re: Octo card not recognized on every boot

I have this problem too with a Pi3B. It seems like it could be some sort of timing problem. It happens less frequently on a micro SD card with Raspbian Jessie installed and more frequently on a micro SD card with Raspbian Stretch installed. It also seems to be more of a problem when using the vc4-fk...

Re: Wifi Dropping Out

Just a thought... I don't know if it will make any difference, but maybe you should check if power saving/management is enabled. Check the current value pi@raspberrypi:~ $ iw wlan0 get power_save Power save: on pi@raspberrypi:~ $ iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11 Mode:Master Tx-Power=31 dBm Retry sho...

Re: Is there a hardware reset procedure?

I get the "I2S SYNC error!" messages also, but my Octo seems to mostly be working. flatmax said those messages were nothing to worry about and they occur with all I2S sound cards on the Pi's. I get the DMA transfer could not be terminated" messages as well, and from what I've read those might indica...

Re: Is there a hardware reset procedure?

I don't know of a reset procedure for the Octo. Does dmesg have anything interesting to say? Have you tried rebooting? Does sound work then? It would be interesting see dmesg output before you tried rebooting (after the problem occurred) and after rebooting. What power supply are you using to power ...

Re: Octo arrived and working, potentiometer knobs?

I think the device name is anyChannelCount not anyChannelOutput ? But that may be the same as the default if you are still using the standard .asoundrc. Not sure why it would cut out after a few seconds, strange. Matt Thanks, flatmax. Good catch. I did screw that up on one of my last tests (after g...
