Pulseaudio Alsa issues are common now a days. You have not mentioned whether the record on the loopback device work or not ? You can buy break out boards in the nearby system accessories shop or you can buy it through online if you know the site is genuine. It does not cost much. Be careful when you deal with online dealers

I think if you add Rpi3 with debian then it will better. Please try it. It is not neccessary to reboot the system every then and now. I think there is aome major defect with your system. Please contact a good system therapist :)

Thank you moggyd. I was also encountering same problem.We too had additional control in the alsamixer let alone that was boosting the input signal. Our device is also being used for recording and playback. After Running like arecord -D plug:mbl_rec it worked well.
