Wich card for active noise control task

Post by mikkkkky » Thu May 03, 2018 3:48 am

Hi,
I try to find a sound card with the possibility to implement advanced active noise control techniques.
Active noise control is a real-time application of adaptive filtering that requires extensive computations.
The frequency bandwidth is 500 Hz–1000 Hz, sometime higher, which allows only 1–2 ms to perform all the calculations.
In the past I have done this task with a industrial acquisition/control cards with DSP/FPGA, implementing algorithms such as FXLMS, FIR, IIR digital filters.

Is it possible using an AudioInjector card to perform such tasks?
Which is the best?

Thank you for the support.

Yes it is possible.

If you lower the sample rate to 16 kHz for example then you should have less computational load and may be able to get your latency down to 1 or 2 ms.

If you want to try as low as 8 kHz, you can modify the driver to let you sample with this low sample rate. There is a thread on this forum which shows you how to get 8 kHz going.

Hope that helps
Matt
