As the subject line says. Also, do I just plug the microphone into the 3.5mm jack on the main board.
Surely someone has tried or just knows this?
Yes, power is provided, 2.4V o/c. And No, you don't use the jack. You solder the mic provided to the pins on the board, on the lower right hand side looking at the top of the board with the GPIO at the top
If you want to plug it in then solder a jack socket tip to the + pad and - to sleeve. The jack on the board is a headphone out TRS jack, not a TRRS.
Mic power only seems to be there while recording in my tests. YMMV
