I just scooped up 20 of the Pi Zero sound cards on kickstarter looking forward to em, although 96khz is pretty good I too would like to see a 192khz recording ability in the future, that would be nice / state of the art.

I'm new to it all really, but I found this detector and thought I'd try making it. It should probably more be called a recorder. It's likely to do various things, but the main one seams to be recording ultrasound (UK bats tend to be low 20kHz up to just over 100kHz but in the area I live they're generally below 100kHz so the 192 sampling should be ok for me), displaying sonograms with sox, time expansion playback and peak frequency id. The songrams and peak frequency id are both useful for identifying bat species.

The detector I built from a kit last year is heterodyne - tune to approx. frequency and it picks up bat calls about 5-10kHz either side. These are the cheapest to buy but you can obviously miss out on outside your target frequencies (you have to know what species to expect but you always get exceptions and will miss some).

Unfortunately I don't know much about electronics, but it's been fun playing so far.

Keep an eye on my website that you mention above - I'm working an a new version of the Raspberry Pi bat recorder - still trialing a prototype, so hopefully more details to come soon on my website if all goes well.

Would you use the electret mic lines on this card :
