Zero asembly
i've received my Zero Raspberry pi sound cards and I'm looking to assemble them.
I can't find a guide to help me with this - is there one or will there be one? Even hi-res top down photos of the assembled pieces would help.
Sorry if it's on here somewhere - my attempts at searching were hampered by being unable to search the word zero on the forum!
"The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: zero."
Thanks
Rob

Re: Zero asembly
Anyone have this assembled? What is the capacitor for? Can I run it without the volume controls?

Re: Zero asembly
Round thing that I thought was a capacitor is a microphone. After I look closer it seems easy to figure out. I will post pictures once I get everything soldered down and tested.
Re: Zero asembly
I can also help if you like ... what sort of images are you interested in ?

Re: Zero asembly
I would like images viewing the top of the three boards to confirm that I assembled it correctly.
It is not clear which say the connectors should face. If I align the R pin on both it should work but it might be easy to remove the cable if the pin has the open side facing out.
Is there a positive lead on the microphone?
I should have time to work on soldering it today so I will post something if I do not see pictures from others.

Re: Zero asembly
Which Potentiometer would fit the board?
Most Potentiometers have 3 pins. Would I connect to first row for the input and the 2nd row for the output?

Re: Zero asembly
You need to get a ganged potentiometer, from the comments of the kickstarter project, here are some example ones.
There are two methods for connecting the IO boards, one is direct and the other is through the potentiometers.
You are supplied with enough parts to go direct, which looks like so : If you want to use a potentiometer, then like so : For input recording, I have found it is easier to get low noise witout the potentiometer, however if you are mounting in a metal case with a plastic knob, you may find it very good to record through a potetniometer.

Re: Zero asembly
Rob,
Thank you for the post. I did not have time to work on it this weekend. I would not have gotten it right anyhow. I would not have thought about including two options for the connector.
Thank you,
Jimbob

Re: Zero asembly
Hi Rob
Should the RCA jacks be soldered or they should work fine without soldering?
