XLR input into Audio Injector Zero

I am looking to input an xlr cabled microphone into the zero soundcard.

is there anyway to input the balanced signal directly to the board, or will i need to change it to a unbalanced signal and before input into the direct input?

The microphone level input needs to be fed with an unbalanced signal. The easiest (but most expensive) way is to use a microphone transformer. These have a centre-tapped primary - for connection to your microphone - and a secondary that can have one leg grounded and the other applied to the audio input. These are expensive because if they're to work properly - giving a good CMRR - they have to be very accurately constructed. They also have to be well shielded to prevent hum pick-up.

The other - more complicated, but probably better solution is to use a low noise op-amp circuit to do the conversion. There are plenty of circuits for this on the interweb!

Bear in mind also that some microphones require "phantom" powering, which will add an extra layer of complexity.

I have been playing with the STEVAL-CCA023V1 if you can find someone with it in stock. Nice differential input amp TS472. I got the last two digikey had, but Mouser seems to have 28 of them.
