WiFi Dropout on Playback

Post by tehtomi » Tue Feb 06, 2018 11:55 am

Hi,
as soon as I play something on the pi3 B+ (locally) with this stereo soundcard via aplay or mpg123 etc. wifi stops working and i get kicked out of ssh.
When its finished playing wifi picks up again and I can log back in.

This is not how I imagine developing anything on the pi. Is this normal behaviour?
If so this would be a major flaw of this soundcard. I don't want to use another wifi dongle on a board that has it already built in,
then I could have just gone with an USB soundcard dongle sparing GPIO/SPI ports.

Is there some EMF interference stuff going on like with the DAC+ Pro or what could be the problem?

Only probably related error I could find is this one in
syslog

Code: Select all

kernel: [ 4732.122606] bcm2835-i2s 3f203000.i2s: I2S SYNC error!
but if SPI is not set up correctly then why would it play audio normally?

Thanks,
T.

Some people have also posted information about this - I believe it may be to do with the solid ground plane of the AI cards which sit ontop of the pi.
Have you tried to lift the board up ? You will find posts on this forum which show images of what people have done to lift the card up.
