Setup on Ubuntu-Mate

Post by wh7qq » Sun Jan 20, 2019 5:30 pm

I have been seriously frustrated by the LMDE desktop screensaver which insists on blanking the display and stopping Audacity in its tracks every 10 minutes or so. I am trying to copy a cassette tape to a .wav file and the tape is 45 minutes on a side. Having to continually keep the screen alive is a major PITA. I would like to try the RPi version of Ubuntu-Mate and was wondering if anyone had tried it or if any help was available anywhere.

I just set up Ubuntu mate beta on a raspberry pi3b+. Installed the normal way i.e. Download image copy image to sdcard , boot from sdcard. Go through the paces of setting up. After rebooting I did an update to latest version . Rebooted. Changed /boot/configure.txt to rem out dtparam=on and to include the dtb overlay for the stereo card.

Definitely works!
Audioinjector rocks!

Do not run the .deb As it will run rip-update , we do not want that!
And once rebooted, open a terminal and launch alas mixer ... At least enable line and output mixer hifi ..
