Volume too low

I just installed and tested my stereo audioinjector as instructed in this forum.
Everything seems to work, except the volume is too low. I have two 3W 8Ohm speakers, and whether I connect with the RCA jack or the headphone jack the volume is almost inaudible.

I have the hardware volume turned all the way up-- is there an alsa setting or something else that i am missing?

Older post so you may have found solution since then, but be aware that the audio available at the headphone jacks is exactly that...for headphones so a higher impedance load is required...16 to 50 ohms or so. The audio at the RCA plug outputs is line level and cannot drive speakers. In either case, you will require a power amp to provide the drive level needed for the 8 ohm speaker load.
