In line microphone doesn't work

I've installed the card on the raspberry pi 4
The built in mic and the speakers works fine but when I change it to use the line in mic the microphone doesn't work
I've been using the instructions on https://github.com/Audio-Injector/stereo-and-zero
Once I run the alsactl --file /usr/share/doc/audioInjector/asound.state.RCA.thru.test restore the connected mic doesn't work.
when I can alsactl --file /usr/share/doc/audioInjector/asound.state.MIC.thru.test restore the built in mic works fine
I've tried 2 different mics.

Any idea what I can check or do?
