Compatibility with UpBoards

Post by biff » Tue Jun 27, 2017 4:32 am

Hi, im looking to use this board in a project, but due to processing requirements, i might have to move to an Upboard.

It has a compatible RPi header so it should fit just fine and be pin compatible, but what would I have to do to get it running on a non rasbian distro? Is it even possible?

Hi,

So a good start, the GPIO header is compatible with the PI.
Do you have a link to the Linux src used to build these systems ?

thanks
Matt

Thanks Matt,
I am currently running a full install of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
They do offer Ubilinux but I don't think that is open source.

Do you know if the chips are the same on these boards ? Would the cheaper boards use the same software as the more expensive boards ?

The regular UPs are all the same apart from ram and hdd sizes.
The UP Squared uses Pentium and Celeron, the regular UP board uses an Atom.

This is pretty cool, something to be said for the grunt.... and usability of x86 software.

Yeh, its a good board for when the Raspberry Pi runs out of umph. And it doesnt us an SD card so that has benefits for stability, and lack of corrupted SDs
