minized to octo

Post by sgawad » Tue Jan 23, 2018 5:39 am

Hi, I am curious if you think it's possible to interface the octo with the minized:

http://zedboard.org/product/minized (which I just ordered)
or eventually the zynqberry:
https://shop.trenz-electronic.de/en/Pro ... -Zynq-SoC/
both board use a zynq which is a Soc from xilinx which provide both an arm core and some programable logic.

apparently the cs42xxx8 codec is supported in linux-xlnx which shall help a bit

https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/bl ... s42xx8.txt
but I am unsure about gpio levels and power supplies,

Is the schematic for the octo available somewhere? I only found the schematics for the breakout boards.
Also I don't need the breakout boards is it possible to order just the coded board with headers?

Thank you.

Those are sweet boards !
I played around with the FPGA on the Zedboard years ago and got 1 MHz audio running with jackd ... they are a lot of fun.

I can't think of how to set up an octo with a zedboard ... you could try to put I2S through it ... using the required GPIO pins for control and also the control of the board ... seems like a lot of effort to make this work however.

Thank you for your reply,
I am still looking for a solution, none of these boards seem to come with enough ADC channels...
I would like to feed 6 audio channels to it and have fft running in the fpga plus some additional processing in the arm for my new crazy project.
Alternatively, I am contemplating using 6x AD7476 which are also available as a pmod or even making a small board for an AD7266, not sure which would be easier for the fpga interfacing work.
