Only one record device is showing instead of 6

Post by ssk » Tue Feb 06, 2018 8:51 am

I intend to use 2 of the input channels, apply various processing and output 8 different streams. I further intend to use the other 4 other input channels for getting other input and use them for analysis, but, first, the card I have is 8/6 out/in, but I think I'm only seeing 8/1.

I am running Pi3, and Stretch.

Here are the results of my aplay -l and arecord -l

Code: Select all

$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA]
  Subdevices: 8/8
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
  Subdevice #2: subdevice #2
  Subdevice #3: subdevice #3
  Subdevice #4: subdevice #4

  Subdevice #6: subdevice #6

card 1: audioinjectoroc [audioinjector-octo-soundcard], device 0: AudioInject-HIFI cs42448-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1

Code: Select all

To be specific, here are the listings of the octo on your system - always one deivce :

Code: Select all

$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 1: audioinjectoroc [audioinjector-octo-soundcard], device 0: AudioInject-HIFI cs42448-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
$ arecord -l
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 1: audioinjectoroc [audioinjector-octo-soundcard], device 0: AudioInject-HIFI cs42448-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
You may want to look at splitting the card into virtual sound cards which can be used independently ?

Here is a starter thread for how to do that :
