Octo I2S caveats ?

Hi,

I run a very small manufacturing shop, we build "smart" audio players for businesses. I'm wondering if the Octo would be a good fit to build a Pi-based multi analog out device.

I'm really impressed by the engineering work that made the Octo possible but I need to ask : aren't they any trade-off or caveats that come with pushing the I2S protocol to such extreme lengths ? Browsing the NXP I2S spec, it seems clear the protocol was never intended for more than 2 channels.
