Hey Folks,
I'm planning to use the octo with a digital vinyl system (DVS), so i'll be connecting turntables to the octo.
This would require preamps to amplify the phono signal to a line level, I do have some lying around, but would rather have an on-board solution because it would mean less cables/PSUs, less clutter, less space taken up, etc.
What would be the best approach to achieve this? stack some self made preamps? position them next to each other?
i have no idea what dimensions they would be.
Sadly i'm no soldering pro but i know a few people who would help.
maybe someone here has a nice idea regarding this..
thanks,
Kenneth

Re: PreAmp for octo inputs
I have the same problem
Line in records fine for me, mics I need a external power and/or a preamp
You need external power, one of like these
http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-b ... plate=mics
Or/and a preamp that also provide voltage like these:
http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-b ... /SP-PREAMP
I have a wildlife audio technica Condenser Shotgun Microphone with preamp and still the audio is very weak
Another problem I found is my aluminum RSP case is charged with static every time I switch on the preamp
With line in with high bit rate really very clear
I hope this would help

Consider a low cost preamp: PA-4 HYDROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER - board only $60
