Yes, unfortunately I was shifting the forum this weekend from one server to another so, it was down for around 24 hours ... I apologise that you were seeking support during that period.

OK - if you want to dump vinyl, then please use 48kHz sample rates also I recommend at least 24 bits per sample. Here is an example command for ripping :

If you want to see what devices you have available, please use :

The device "-D copy" or copy device doesn't exist.

First of all, please tell me if a solder bridge between pins 21 and 22 on the wm8371 chip is intentional or a defect? See attachment below.

I have employed the arecord instruction you gave me (above) and but there is no sound recorded to the file that gets created, the size of which is related to the duration of the recording period. There is no error code associated with the command and it seems to be recording but there is no sound in the file.

The card is recognized as you can see from above, and the board is able to find and play .wav files that are on a USB memory on the RaspberryPi with very good fidelity.

My suspicion at this point is that the line input circuitry is defective unless the above mentioned solder bridge is to blame.

I had a hard time getting logged into the forum because the activation email went to my "spam" folder and I did not find it until just now.

The solder bridge is present on alot of these items ... even my prototypes, mainly because two pins are connected together under the pads, which allows solder to wick up them.

Probably the reason why you aren't getting audio is because your mixer is setup to record incorrectly. Check that your pots are turned up full and that the mixer looks similar to the settings from this post on the forum :

Not so good, Matt. Set up with alsamixer controls exactly as you suggested, using exactly the arecord command as you suggested, no audio was recorded on the file. Unless you have another suggestion, I think the input circuit is NG.

You may be right in this case.
One last question, are you plugging your turntable through a preamp ?

I really appreciate all your efforts to solve my issues. A replacement Audioinjector arrived today and it is now working quite well. I was able to record a full disk and now, I have the chore of editing it. The sound quality seems fantastic...no distortion audible to my ageing ears. The Audioinjector is a fantastic value for the RPi and I believe it is the only sound solution for the RPi that has both record and play capability for CD quality stereo (not including much more expensive options from Creative and M-Audio).

In answer to your question, I am using an RIAA equalized preamp between my moving magnet cartridge and the AudioInjector. Even with the preamp at max, I have to use maximum volume levels on the input pot to achieve a decent record level.

Other than alsamixer, which must be set up as you have shown, I have found that Audacity is much easier to work with and provides a graphic illustration of the record level as you go. It makes setting up the controls much easier, rather than hunt and peck with arecord/aplay. The Edit>Preferences>Devices window must be modified to use the audioinjector driver but then it just works. Of course it is also great for post editing as well.
