Hello. I used the automated setup and with some additional tweaks to .asoundrc I was able to get audio to play out. My question is regarding the implied on-board microphone based on the description of the stereo sound card; "Including a headphone preamp+jack and an inbuilt microphone." I have adjusted mic levels but I cannot get the board to pick up any mic sound. I can't seem to find anything physically on the board that looks like it could be a microphone but there is a suspicious looking empty spot on the board labeled "Cmic1" (please see image below). Is this board maybe missing a part? Thank you for your help.
Missing on-board microphone?

Re: Missing on-board microphone?
Oh I finally realized there are two models; one with the microphone and one without. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you!
Re: Missing on-board microphone?
No worries.
However you can go out and purchase your own electret microphone and will most likely be able to use it with this board. Just make sure the + pin is aligned with the blue side of the Cmic footprint.
I noticed that you are using a ribbon cable on the gpio header ... whats your project ?
thanks
Matt

Re: Missing on-board microphone?
Thank you for your response! I did just get and electret microphone that I think will fit nicely in that spot. My final goal won't actually need a built-in microphone but I was worried when I thought it might be missing. Right now i'm just using the ribbon cable out to a GPIO breakout for testing/learning. I am refinishing an antique radio cabinet that i'm planning to put a Chromecast Audio in as input to a Pi3 with the Stereo Sound Card, use an led strip lights as a spectrum analyzer or some kind of music-synced light effects, then output to amplified speakers. It's a learn-as-I-go project and i'm learning a lot.

sweet !
Are you planning to compile the cast in as software ? Or are you planning to purchase a google hardware ?
