Line in on boot
Hi line in and mic need to be enabled manually in preferences audio device settings even after making default. I need line in to work from boot without having to go in and manually enable this setting, i have entered alsactl --file /usr/share/doc/audioInjector/asound.state.RCA.thru.test restore but nothing changed, every time i switch on or restart i have to tick the line in box to enable it
Re: Line in on boot
It is likely that this has something to do with the Pi's operating system "lxpanel" software. In the past we have noticed lxpanel obliterating .asoundrc files :
https://github.com/raspberrypi-ui/lxpanel/issues/13
That thread suggests that there are plugins which are operating which override the standard ALSA mode of operation. I am cross linking this thread to that thread to see if we can get more advice from them.
I am wondering if lxpanel also messes with mixer settings obliterating standard alsactl methodologies ?
I have logged an issue with lxpanel asking for help.

Re: Line in on boot
Good Day All,
I had the same problem at first.
I discovered if I set Line through the alsamixer, followed by:
everything stayed set to line in.
Hope that helps.

Re: Line in on boot
Hey Matt after reading the replies do you think there can be fix for this or possible work around ?
Re: Line in on boot
Can you give IrwinAllen13's approach a test again ?
I think it will be messed up when you change something in the lxpanel volume plugin (top right volume icon) although I could be mistaken.
Otherwise we have to learn how to remove the volume plugin from lxpanel ... and possibly other things - what do you think ?

Re: Line in on boot
Since installing pulseAudio because of the little endian script problem i cant get into alsamixer
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ alsamixer
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Access denied
cannot open mixer: Connection refused

Re: Line in on boot
ok - that is a strange problem !
I have been disabling the lxpanel's volume control like so :
I also uninstall pulseaudio:
can you check your device is present ? Does aplay -l report it ?
Matt
I have been disabling the lxpanel's volume control like so :
Code: Select all
sed -i 's/\=volumealsa/\=REMOVEvolumealsa/' ~pi/.config/lxpanel/LXDE-pi/panels/panel
Code: Select all
sudo apt remove pulseaudio
