Headset Microphone
Hello, I need to know if it is possible to connect a headset type microphone (https://www.minidsp.com/products/acoust ... k-1-detail) to the Stereo card.
Re: Headset Microphone
Hi there,
There are two wiring steps here. One step is to wire your headphone connectors to the headphone header. The other step is to find out whether the mic is an electret mic. and if it is, then wire that up as well - because you can drive it.
In both cases, you need a suitable socket for your mic/headset connector.
To wire the headphones, find the headphone header on the Zero (bottom left) and wire the L+R lines to your L+R lines on your socket. IF you find the sound is too loud (then you have a preamp in your device) and you can try to wire it to the Line output (left header on the zero).
Now for the mic. This approach requires you to find the Mic footprint on the Zero (bottom right) and wire a socket to it as appropriate for your microphone.
Find which of the connectors on your socket are the GND and mic. connectors.
Wire the Mic connector to the positive line on the Zero's Mic footprint. Wire the GND connector to the GND line on the Zeros's Mic footprint. The GND on the Zero's mic footprint is the hole inside the "white" section of the Mic footprint.
That should do the trick if your microphone in that device is an electret microphone - if not, then it is most likely a dynamic microphone and you should be careful NOT to wire it up for fear of damaging it.
You can choose whether you wire the GND on the socket to the GND pin of the headphone header OR to the GND pin on the Mic footprint ...
Please report back on progress (a picture would be great too!)
