Advice on suitability for hobby project

Can you tell me if this card would be capable of the following?

I'd like to use the card as a pass through device (to sit in the middle of an audio connection) and to simultaneously route a copy of the input audio data to some code that will determine whether to mute the output or not.

The code that would be 'listening' to the input is the dejavu sound fingerprinting package.

What I am trying to do is create a device that sits in the middle of a physical audio connection and mutes / unmutes the output depending on the audio fingerprints it finds.

I'm not much of a hardware person so hopefully it will all be 'in the box'.
