Just getting started question(s)...

Post by edsut » Sat Oct 05, 2019 3:43 am

Hi,
I just received my octo sound board with the RCA breakout.
I plugged it into my Pi4 (note: Pi-4) and walked through the "Easy Automatic Setup"
described here: http://forum.audioinjector.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1222
After rebooting my board, both aplay -l and arecord -l just return the message:
aplay/arecord: device_list:272: no soundcards found...
I wanted to start by just doing some basic ALSA stuff.
Any idea where I went wrong?
Thanks

Hi,

I have a question as to whether the RPI4 is compatible. Did you ever get an answer on this?

Thanks in advance, James

Hello,

I ran into the same problem using my new RPI4 running Raspbian NOOBS. The solution was pretty easy, at least for playback, to fix.

The script does not create the .asoundrc file in the /home directory for some reason.

I ran the script and it followed what I expected it to do. However, I got the same response you did. I looked in the /home directory and there was no .asoundrc file. Using sudoedit I created the file in the /home directory and put in the rest of the text suggested by flatmax.

That did the trick. Aplay -l shows the audioinjector card and I was able to play back a file using Audacity. Next, when I have time, I will see how it does for input.

Hope this helps.

James
