I think it is possible to achieve around 1.5 ms latency on the input and less on the output with the product.

Could you please clarify whether this time is estimation only or it is based on some test results.
Does the latency depend on the sample rate?
Are input and output streams synchronized?

I used the alsa latency test executable called "latency". You can see more about it here .
It is likely that latency depends on sample rate in a real system, because if you have to process more data per second, then you will chew more computation resources and require bigger blocks to make it more efficient !
The streams are synchronised when you are not using asynchronous executables. For example if you are using and executable which is full duplex, then it will open the input and output devices together. However there is still the latency of playing and recording, which means that if you played a tone out and recorded it back in, there would be some offset between the input and output signals.
